The weather in Sud Ard\u00e8che around
\n Vallon Pont d’Arc<\/a>
\n<\/strong> is particularly generous with sunshine \ud83c\udf1e and warmth as early as April<\/strong>! Rainy days can happen but it’s rare<\/strong>. And don’t worry! Is there enough water to navigate the Ard\u00e8che? <\/b><\/h2>\n

It’s not uncommon to hear legends that at such and such a time there’s no more water in the Ard\u00e8che<\/strong> \ud83c\udfdc\ufe0f, or at least not enough to enjoy a canoe trip \ud83d\udea3\u200d\u2642\ufe0f<\/strong>. In fact, it’s simply not true \ud83d\ude02.
\nThe Ard\u00e8che is fortunate to be fed by numerous<\/strong> natural tributaries<\/strong> as well as dams. \ud83c\udfde\ufe0f<\/p>\n

The best time to sail is of course in May, when water levels are naturally higher<\/strong> than in midsummer, but don’t worry!<\/strong> We’ve never yet run out of water! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

On the contrary, after heavy rains, it may happen that the water level is too high for canoeing \ud83d\udea3\u200d\u2642\ufe0f, especially for the 12km course<\/a> (
\n this remains very rare<\/em>
\n<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nIn order to sail in good conditions, the coastline must be below +0.50, and below -0.30 for the 12km course.

What is the water temperature in the Ard\u00e8che?<\/h2>\n

The temperature varies according to the season, but it’s very pleasant from mid-April\/early May! <\/b>In fact, the calm flow that runs for several dozen kilometers before Vallon Pont d’Arc<\/strong> and Ard\u00e8che gorges<\/strong> allows the water to take advantage of the Ard\u00e8che sun \ud83c\udf1e to warm up.
\nIf the water temperature is cool at the beginning of the season (around 15\u00b0c)\ud83d\udc27 we provide neoprene wetsuits to keep you warm<\/strong> \ud83e\udd17!
\nThen very quickly the swimsuit became the official attire \ud83d\udc59\ud83e\ude73 with water temperatures exceeding 20\u00b0 as early as May and reaching 25\u00b0c in summer!!!<\/strong> \ud83c\udf21\ufe0f[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”892″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The must-haves!<\/h2>\n

For any canoe trip, there are a few things you need to remember to make sure you enjoy your Ard\u00e8che adventure in the best possible conditions!
\nBut which items should you put in your bag first?<\/p>\n

Sunscreen \ud83e\uddf4<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We can’t stress this enough: protect yourself from the sun<\/strong> \u2600\ufe0f! Tanning is nice… toasting is not so nice \ud83e\udd75!
\nA good tube of SPF 50 sunscreen<\/strong> (it’sthe south here, so save the SPF 30 for the beach<\/em> \ud83d\ude1c).<\/p>\n

Water \ud83e\udd64<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Of course, canoeing means sport, and the Ard\u00e8che means sun<\/strong>, so make sure you’re properly hydrated, otherwise you’ll end up like a raisin with a raging headache. Plan on 1.5L of water per person<\/strong> to keep everyone cool on your trip down the Ard\u00e8che!<\/strong>
\n(The pastis is for after the canoe trip!)<\/em><\/p>\n

Picnic \ud83e\udd6a<\/h2>\n

What better way to settle down<\/strong> than on one of the many beaches<\/strong> you’ll come across along the way?
\nDon’t worry, of course, we provide watertight containers<\/strong> in which to transport chips and other sausages… \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Closed-toe shoes \ud83d\udc5f<\/h2>\n

Which shoes are right for canoeing<\/strong>? Well, in reality there are no rules, but we do recommend shoes such as an old pair of sneakers<\/strong> and, above all,avoiding flip-flops<\/strong>, which could decide to make the descent of the Ard\u00e8che without you by escaping from your feet!<\/p>\n

Sun hat\ud83e\udde2<\/h2>\n

Not compulsory, but not a bad idea! Especially during summer heatwaves \ud83e\udd75<\/strong> or if you spend a whole day or more in the sun! The paddling time is<\/strong> around 1h30<\/strong>, but you can take as much time as you like<\/strong>. This allows you to sail at your own pace<\/strong> and, above all, to take as many swimming breaks as you like<\/strong> \"\u26f1\ufe0f\" (including on the Pont d’Arc beaches)!<\/p>\n
